01 / Meet your DJ
I’m Tom (DJ Atomix), the DJ behind Good Frequency, based in Saltdean near Brighton. I’ve been doing this for over twenty years, including sets at Brighton’s Amex Stadium, alongside birthdays, anniversaries, garden parties, corporate dos. No two are the same, and that’s what keeps it interesting.
Before the night, we’ll have a proper chat about your event, your crowd, the music that matters to you, and the stuff you’d rather never hear. That conversation does most of the work. On the night I take it from there, reading the room and adjusting as things build.
I play open format, no fixed genre, no fixed era, just whatever fits the room. Most nights move through a few phases: background music while guests arrive, a building set as people loosen up, then a proper peak when the floor fills up. I’m comfortable moving from Motown and soul through 70s, 80s and 90s classics, pop and dance, and if you want some punch later in the night, house, breaks and drum & bass is where I’m happiest.

Every booking includes a full professional setup: a PA system suited to your venue size, dancefloor lighting that adds atmosphere without taking over, wireless microphones if you need them for speeches or announcements, and a clean, well-presented booth. Everything you need, nothing you have to think about.

We hired Tom at Good Frequency for a recent 90’s disco charity event. In the lead up to the event, I was impressed with the professionalism and dedication to getting the event just right and how we wanted it. On the night, the dance floor was filled throughout, a great vibe with some great tunes, floor fillers and requests too. The event was a huge success, we raised £2500 for breast cancer, which couldn’t have happened without a fantastic DJ. Professional, punctual and the sound quality was spot on. Setup was quick and the kit looked the part without taking over the room. Music landed well with a mixed crowd, plenty of people up dancing by mid-evening. Good choice for our company’s 15th birthday in Brighton, exactly the night we wanted.
